hallan Hall enjoys a wonderful rural situation overlooking the "original" Lake Hawes Water. The Silverdale and Arnside area around Challan Hall Bed and Breakfast has been designated an area of outstanding natural beauty and special scientific interest.
All the old estate lands including the Lake have passed into the ownership of Natural England and now form part of the Gait Barrows Nature Reserve. Half a mile down the valley is the internationally important bird sanctuary, Leighton Moss Nature Reserve.
Far from the madding crowd...
Only ten minutes from the M6.
Conveniently situated on the edge of the Lake District, Challan Hall is only a 25-minute drive away from Lake Windermere. One of the most popular places to visit in the Lake District, Windermere offers cruises on the lake, attractive villages and ample opportunities for enjoying the countryside.
The Silverdale and Arnside area tends to be something of a sleepy backwater, having always been by-passed by main routes both in modern times and in the past. As a result, it is mercifully free of the crowds and traffic now all too familiar in the main holiday areas.
Challan Hall is also handy for a range of other interesting destinations. The Yorkshire Moors is not far to the east. The Forest of Bowland and the Lune Valley are also near, and Challan Hall is only a mile or so from the sea and the shores of Morecambe Bay.
