Levens Hall, one of the finest examples of an Elizabethan stately home which has one of the best topiary gardens in Europe. Also worth a visit are the Heron Corn Mill, a working museum, where corn has been ground since 1220, and the Lakeland Wildlife Oasis, which is full of unusual reptiles and animals. Silverdale Golf Club, 1/2 a mile away, offers a quite outstanding and challenging 18 hole course, and there are half a dozen further excellent courses within easy driving distance including the locally known Beckside course, a little gem nestled within the rugged beauty of the Lake District. Pony trekking and riding is available just across the lake at "Trekers". If none of the above is of any interest there are plenty of other more 'hardcore' activities on offer locally;
All the above are within 30-45 minutes of the house, and generally very accessible, although some of the activities will require having your own equipment.
